A Year of Blog Headers and New Years Eve Traditions

Thanks to my friend Sarah I learned how to make a blog header...thanks again Sarah!! I still visit your tutorial for advice! I thought it would be fun to look back at my year of blog headers.

What do you do on New Years Eve? A few years ago we started a tradition with the kids..I can't remember where I heard about it but I love it. We get a fire going in the fireplace and each of us writes down something we'd like to forget about or even change about the past year. We fold it...don't show it to anyone and throw it in the fire.  Then we can start the New Year with a clean slate. Then we have Chinese food, champagne (for me and Steve...fake stuff for the kiddos) and the kids eat all the junk cereal they want. I don't buy junk cereal except on their birthdays and New Years Eve....what do you do? I love hearing what others do. I think it would be fun to go to a formal party in a pretty dress and a tux for Steve. But, for now while the kids are young we love being home with them and ringing in the New Year...Happy New Year friends!! xoxo

  1. I love seeing all your headers Pam...they were so much fun!
We always celebrate New Years with our kids too, we usually go to a party at different friends houses, again this year, but the kids are always invited because all of our friends have kids too! I love the fire idea..I have a few things I would like to add and throw in the fire from this year..amen!
    Happy New Year!!
    xoxo

  2. Love the headers! I may have to post mine, too. Thank goodness for Sarah teaching us how to make them. I, also, love the tradition.... that's a good one! New Years Eve we usually spend the night in, no real traditions. This year, our 13 year old daughter is spending the night out with friends..... I'm kinda sad about it, but she'll have fun with her friends. Happy New Year!

  3. We are pretty lame around here for New Year's. Although Brad does bribe any kid with $5 who is brave enough to jump into the pool. It's about 40-45 degrees right now. Enough to maim a small bird and kill an AZ child. Last year, Ben and Lily did it.
    Good times.
Hope your new year is spectacular, my friend.

  5. Because of you my friend we stay home with the kids. We usually pick the meal that they want to eat (tomorrow night is fondue) and watch a movie and celebrate. I think that we might try the throw away tradition tomorrow night. While I like the idea of going out all dressed up I feel like I always get let down on New Year's all hoop and no LA. xoxoxo!!!

  7. Happy New Year, Pam! We go to Costco and buy a whole bunch of hors'd oeuvre -sey things (stuff I wouldn't usually get) and the kids help with the prep and then we dance party like it's 1999 until 10 when we watch the ball drop in NY. Hope yours is great :)

  8. Happy New Year!! Love your headers so I'll have to check out your friend's tutorial!! We go to Mass, eat a bunch of fried, bad for us food, ice cream sundae's, play games, and watch movies. I'm hiding in my room at the moment b/c I'm not feeling great but I think they're having a blast down there :)

  9. Thank you so much for reminding me about your New Years Eve tradition ~ I remember reading about it last year and thought it was fantastic!
I have my 82 year old Mom here with me (who has had a year of health issues) and my 8 year old son (who is an amazing person) and we just did it together. (My husband is a ski patroller and he is working at a mountain in NH as people revel in New Years). We are now ready for 2011 ~ Bring it on!

  12. So funny about the cereals, I had to comment. (Just found my way here from Clover Lane...hi!)
I'm lucky my kids mostly are round oat cereal fans (any brand, even luckier!) but I will sometimes top with a small layer of Cinnamon Toast Crunch for variety. A box of CTC will last us ages; I don't put much on but a little does jazz it up without pushing them over the sugar edge. And I just bought my once-a-year box of Lucky Charms, for eating around St. Patrick's Day only! (It was on major sale and will live hidden in my pantry until March 14.)
Have a great 2011! I love your stones in the ocean and will steal that next time we ring in the new year at the shore.
