Is there nothing better after school than a cup of hot chocolate? Even if it is sunny and 50. I really wish it were gloomy and snowy. I'm strange..I know. Anyway, splurge a little on the Ghiradelli hot cocoa. It's so worth it. And this year I really want to make my own marshmallows. Barefoot Contessa has a recipe I'm going to try...would love to know if anyone has made them before?
Stephen came home from school today and read my blog. He loves reading the comments and says "hey look mom another follower!"..Then he says.."You make it sound like we live in this sanctuary of love all the time"...I guess he missed the posts a while back about how CRANKY I was. Anyway, this life of mine is not perfect. And honestly I am not striving for perfection. But, I do love this time of year and I'm trying to make happy memories for my kids. That's all. And just to let you know..the marshmallows were stale so it wasn't a perfect cup of cocoa after all.
Pam-
ReplyDeleteyou are like june cleaver of the 2000s! my kids also LOVE to come home to a cup of hot cocoa (and most days it is plenty cold enough for it!!).
we will be in boston this weekend (sat & sun) with plans to see the rockettes on sunday matinee.
will you be in boston this weekend??? your house looks GREAT and i am jealous you have it soooo together....care to make a road trip up here and help me decorate???
These darn blogs...now I WANT a big jar of marshmallows! My son loves marshmallows...we always have bags and bags in the pantry....they need a nice little jar!
ReplyDeleteI tried Martha Stewart's marshmallow recipe...a long time ago. They were really good...the best part is you can cut them out in Christmas shapes!
YUM! I love Ghiradelli hot cocoa.... it's a family favorite! I love your decorations... your house looks so cozy all dressed up for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know it was possible to make marshmallows! I learn so much from reading blogs :) Love your decorations by the way!
ReplyDeleteYou do live in a love sanctuary and when they get older they will realize it! :)
ReplyDeletePam,
ReplyDeleteWe were at a very fancy hotel last week, and they served home made marshmallows with their hot chocolate covered in sugar and cinnamon! Really nice touch! Go for it and try to make them yourself! Gotta love Will!!
Yum, I love Ghiradelli hot chocolate too. Your marshmallows look so cute in the glass jar (even if they are stale!). I hope you try making the marshmallows soon and post the recipe! Several years ago I used to travel to the Berkshires for work and there was a store there that sold homemade ones. We would buy them every time we were in town - they were to die for. I'd love to try making my own! I'm laughing about your son's "love sanctuary" comment - that is so cute!
ReplyDeletenever tried the ghiradelli, but you can bet it's on my grocery list for tomorrow - yum!
ReplyDeleteHi Stephen!
ReplyDeleteI'll leave this comment for you :)
Your Mom is an amazing lady, and I know you appreciate her! Did you know I met you when you were just born? And John Paul, my fifteen yr old son, is your long-lost birthday twin...
I hope you get to meet (again) some day.
I'm glad you like reading your Mom's blog, and I love your family, perfect or not ;)
love,
Eileen in VA :)
I made Martha Stewart's recipe for marshmallows once. It was easier than I expected and they were really delicious.

Pam, your house looks so warm and Christmas -ey! I'm still boxes of half thanksgiving and christmas all over the livingroom.
ReplyDeleteI do have a homemade marshmellow recipe. My husband loves them and they are fun to make with the kids.
I've made Martha's marshmallows a few times. Super easy, but super sticky. Be sure to use a lot of extra powdered sugar, which just makes them tastier!!
ReplyDeleteHey, Pam. I love your son's love sanctuary comment--I bet you ten bucks that someday he'll remember your home as being a love sanctuary--not that it was perfect, but that the people were imperfect and everyone still tried to get along--that's love, not perfection. You shouldn't have to make a disclaimer about not being perfect. I take real issue with this idea (of some blog readers) that if we blog about the good things that we're claiming perfection. I love that you focus on the positive. Keep blogging.
ReplyDeleteI love it that your boy checks out the comments. SO cute. LOVE Christmas at your place!!!!
