December 1st!! Today the kids got to open the first present from the Advent Tree. Will was the first to open. We started this tradition a few years ago. I fill 24 little bags with a small gift and hang it on the tree. Hannah glittered the numbers on. I only spend $1 on each gift...I go to the dollar store, the Target dollar bin and Michael's. Slinky's, lip gloss, gum, scratch cards, chocolate gold coins, little legos... Cheap! Each kid also has the chocolate Advent calender from Trader Joe's.
Last night Will said that he was so excited about 3 things to do this morning...look for Buddy, have his chocolate and open his little present. I just love Christmas time. Still decorating..Pandora is blaring Christmas carols..just ordered my Christmas cards..I feel like Will today!
LOL, ok busted those Lego's are totally not $1.00!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about the tree. 24 bags but only one child per day opens and it rotates through the kids? Clever.
My question is the same as Michele's?
ReplyDeleteAnd it doesn't look like Christmas out the window!
totally busted. I looked at my Target receipt and yes..they are 3.99 each. I promise you that everything else I bought was a dollar!! And Will opened today..Hannah tomorrow..Stephen the next day and so on. It takes a bit of planning as each kid is a different age. But it is fun!
ReplyDeletei love your advent tree! i also love how you rotate kids opening the present! i always do advent buckets, in the bucket is a clue as to where their surprise is hidden. but, silly me, i always give a little gift to each kid! oh well...there's always next year.
ReplyDeleteWOW, that advent tree is such a great idea, I love it!! Too bad I have a hard enough time remembering to move the darn elf each night ;-) Still, I really love the advent tree idea ... look out Christmas 2011!!
ReplyDeletePam...
ReplyDeleteWhat fun traditions!!! Your children will always remember the fun and anticipation for Christmas with the sweet little things you're doing. I love it!! And Will is adorable. He reminds me of my Sam :) Maybe some day they'll meet. have a happy advent!!

Ok that's it....I'm ordering an Advent calendar today and starting late!!!:)
ReplyDeleteMy girls would soooo love this!
Enjoy the day Pam!
Would you like to adopt me? I can "feel" the excitement in your home. Blessed children, yours!
ReplyDeleteYou are a wonderful mother creating such amazing memories for your kids Pam!
ReplyDeleteYou are so good...I'm two days behind on ours!
ReplyDeletePut the chandelier over the sink...makes me smile everytime I walk by! You have inspired me to find two candle chandeliers to place on either side of our big electric chandelier in the dining room. It's a sore spot...I so wanted to hang my huge one there...but instead it's in the art studio in the winter and gazebo in the summer. Mark wants to have the ability to turn on the light at any point...I like your solution!
Love it! One of our favorite Christmas traditions is the Advent Calendars we have. We have 5 different ones, each child does a different one every day, rotating just like you do. I may have to swap things up next year, and create an advent tree, it would be a huge hit, I'm sure!
