New Years Eve and Day and a New Tradition

Happy New Year! We had such a fun night and day today...We had our traditional junk food fest which included Ring Dings, pop tarts, candy, cereal, chips, brownie sundaes and Chinese food. Yummy last night..not so much today. Uugh.

We watched a movie..Fly Away Home. It was so sweet and perfect for the whole family.

Almost midnight!
We all threw our notes into the fire...
We all made it to midnight..except Griffy.

Last night Steve came up with a new tradition to add to the old one. I love it. After throwing away the old and bad stuff into the fire last we all went to the beach and found wishing rocks. We wrote on them what we'd like for the New Year and we threw them in the ocean.

Then Stephen challenged Steve to a race. Stephen won...again. Poor Steve. We're not getting old babe.

Thank you for reading my little blog about my little life that I love. Thank you for your comments. I'm still amazed that people other than my Dad read my blog. I think 2011 is going to be a good one.

  1. Happy New Year, Pam. Eliza made it to 10 which was 12 your time. Of course then she woke crying at 3 because she was strung out from all the celebration. Shouldn't have kept her up but the other kids were loving her dance moves.

By the way, I love the rocks. You make me miss the ocean.

  2. What a neat new tradition...just another reason to add to my list (of why we need to live by the beach!) Only one left hander in your family?!
    Happy New Year!

  3. I enjoy reading your blog so much. You're creating some wonderful family memories. Happy New Year!!!

  4. Great idea. So great.
I didn't think it was cold there till I saw you in your warm coat. Kids are tough, aren't they?

And my favorite was seeing Stephen with Griffy. There's just something about the older kids loving on the younger ones that tugs at my heart.

    Happy 2011, dear friend.

  5. Happy New Year Pam. Love all your traditions. Your kids will remember these special evenings forever. These memories are what makes childhood so magical.

  10. Pam, I absolutely LOVE your New Years traditions ... we do the chinese food thing each year, but that's it - so lame!! Yours is so much more meaningful and significant! I'm totally adopting both the fire/paper one AND this stone/ocean one as well - SO GREAT!!

    Happy New Year to you!!

ps ... forgot to ask ... gonna need the 411 on your daughter's red boots - my 12 year old needs new snow boots, but we're struggling to find one "cool" enough for her and functional enough for me (did I mention these tween years are killing me?!) ... Happy New Year, Pam - good to be back!

  11. Happy New Year Pam! Your traditions are SO cool!!!! My kids would have been ALL over the junk food fest! You are a pretty neat lady. :)

We had a nice New Years, but it was out of my comfort zone...bigger party with families, only knew two of the families. I was so exhausted by the time midnight rolled around..just wanted my family and my jammies! Here's to 2011, and yes I do think we started this whole blog thing around the same time. Off to check out some of your reads on Amazon! Keep writing Pam!
