A Winner, What I've Learned and Matthew Mead Summer

Catie is the winner of Amber's giveaway! Yeah Catie! Email me and I'll give you the details. I picked a name out of a bowl. I'm an old fashioned kind of girl..no random generator for me. It would take me too long to figure out how to do it. Thanks again Amber for your generous gift!

So I'm just about finished with the cleanse. Here's what I've learned...1. I don't need coffee. My hot lemon water first thing in the morning and my cup of tea in the afternoon is all I need. I still like coffee..I'm just not conditioned to drink it every morning. 2.  I don't need my glass of wine at night. Don't worry...I did not give up wine..just gave it up during the week. It's all habitual I tell ya. 3. I've learned that I'm full a lot sooner that I thought. I just need to slow down. Easier said than done most days with a baby. 4. I need to be organized and have a plan. I'm very organized with our family meals at night..I now need to put a bit more effort into planning my meals/snacks during the day. If I don't have a plan I fail and eat what ever is available.

Matthew Kelly the author of the book I'm reading Rediscovering Catholicism says over and over again in his book.."Our lives change when our habits change." Love that.

And my new little button on the sidebar over there...Matthew Mead Summer magazine is coming out. I loved his Holiday magazine and even had the pleasure of meeting him down on the Cape last month. I'm sure the Summer issue will not disappoint.

Look at the big shot. Has to sit in the big seat with the big kids now. :(

Have a great weekend!

  1. I love how your mantel looks.

Bummer I didn't win your great giveaway. Ah well. I wasn't ready to admit to grandma status anyway.

I've been trying to re-evaluate my eating habits as well, and I've made a few disturbing discoveries of my own--the biggest of which echoes you. I need to plan my day eating as well as my evening meal. Then things go a lot better.
Just curious, how much weight did you end up losing? And how did you stay on that thing so well? I'm impressed. That isn't even a strong enough word. Amazed and in awe, more like.

  2. Eliza is wanting to sit at the table too, only she tries to climb on. I moved the high chair to mop the floor yesterday and my heart nearly broke looking at the empty spot. I put it right back and decided I needed it there for a bit longer even if she doesn't think she does.

  3. Good Job Pam! I gave up diet Pepsi last week. It's hard, but you're right in that so much of it is habit. I LOVE that sign on you're mantel. I'm ordering mine today :) I wish I could make my own, but it won't turn out as good if I do!

  4. I too realized that I dont need a glass of wine during the week, or even both days on the weekend. It feels good, in fact. I love when they start to sit at the big table- he's soo cute!

  5. I'm slowly realizing I don't need sugar and bread as much. "Rediscovering Catholicism"... I just looked it up. Is it really good? I may order me a copy if it is. I need something religious to read.

  6. Love the "big shot" picture looking so little at the big table! Funny about habits... I've got to work on some of mine. Like the 3 lb bag of ghiraddelli chocolate bittersweet chips in front of me as I type and eat! Bought them for baking, reread the ingredients list at home and realized Abigail's allerigic to this kind. So it won't go in our cookies but I can't let it go to waste! :) Have a great weekend!

  11. I gave up coffee when I got pregnant this time. I did miss the "habit" more than the caffeine, I think. I used to have a cup in the morning and again mid afternoon. I missed the warmth and comfort (and it was kind of when I forced myself to take a break) so then I started doing decaf. I also enjoy tea so that works as well. I'm glad the cleanse went well for you!! And I'm so glad you like that book. We have two copies here for some reason, LOL.
