It was in the 80's today...it felt like summer. After Stephen's baseball game tonight we threw caution to the wind and ate dinner on the beach.
We forgot homework, routines, bedtimes. It's nice to do that every now and then. We ordered pizza..the kids got to drink SODA, we had a bonfire, we all came home with sand in our shoes. It's fun to shake it up a bit! What do you do to shake it up??
I want to be a member of your family, please!
ReplyDeleteThat's warmer than it was here--high seventies, I think.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I took three of my little kids with me for a quick trip to Wal-Mart. They were thrilled. And good to boot.
Doesn't sound that unusual, but I rarely take them with me. Does that make me a bad mom?
What fun...always good to throw in a surprise during the weekday. What's best? The kids remember things like that forever. Such a treat!
ReplyDeleteSometimes we'll have a no-cook meal...we call it
a "butcher block dinner" (salami's, cheese, crackers or a sliced baguette, cut-up veggies, olives, nuts and pop a movie in. Feels like a weekend! Good for you! xoxo
Lovely night! Oh to eat on the beach!! This Summer we will...heading to Vermont, NH, and Maine...yippee!!
ReplyDeleteI will sometimes do a "bits and pieces" dinner...basically clean out the fridge and pantry and put things on fancy little plates as though we're having an appetizer dinner. Kids love it!
Oh Pam, I've been meaning to call you, but I've been running around like a crazy person. My husband has been traveling non-stop and it stinks to be a single parent. Thursdays are my only day off and I should be attacking the dust bunnies that are invading my house, but instead, I'm catching up on your blog! I guess I'll have to live vicariously through your bonfires at the beach since I'll have to wait for my husband to return and hockey season to end (finally!) so we can have our weekends back.
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect Pam!! Blake's baseball game was cancelled yesterday due to rain for the 4th time in a row AND it is spring break here!! UGH!! Blake is thinking he is on board with "that decision we have to make" he is so sick of the weather here...Powell still not so much :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to enjoy your family!
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of you for shaking it up! I guess I get bogged down in the homework arena & the schedule that I rarely shake it up (during the school year!) The first day we were back from spring break we had 2 soccer games & 1 practice. I was on the search for cleats that fit!! Fortunately a friend told me about 1 game, otherwise we would have missed it! I love that you had a great time & your kids will remember it!
ReplyDeleteShaking it up sounds like such a great idea. Now...what to shake and where to shake it? Is the question.
ReplyDeleteSounded like a wonderful evening.
