42

I turned 42 on Saturday. 42. FORTY TWO. I think it sounds worse than it is. I'm telling you...I don't feel 42. What is it supposed to feel like? You want to know how I feel? I feel like I still have time. Time to travel. Time to go back to school (if I wanted to). Time to start a career. Time to have another baby...(not a lot of time..but still time.) Heck, JFK became President at 43. 42 is really not all that bad.

We had a great day on my birthday. Steve and the kids brought me breakfast in bed...I took a nap...we went to the beach and I had my "last supper"..You know, the meal you would have if it were your last. Mine is and always will be...clam chowder, lobster roll and a nice bottle of La Crema white wine...on the beach. It really doesn't get any better than that in my opinion. After that we had the neighborhood come over for cake! Man, I am a blessed woman. Family, friends, good health and time...42 is good. Maybe I'll run for President.

  1. Happy Happy Birthday to you sweet friend! Yes, the older I get, the more possibilities there seem to be....I only wish I hadn't felt so inhibited in my twenties and early thirties...oh well! What a wonderful feast on the beach, you lucky girl!! We're heading to VT, NH, and Maine this Summer...and I can't wait to be near the ocean again!

  2. Ahhhh, didn't someone (Gretchen) say, "wouldn't we love our 20 year old bods with THESE brains?" Your day sounded perfect. And, btw...I'd vote for you!

  3. Admittedly, I've never been to New England, where the seafood is much better, I'm sure. But clam chowder would be on my list.
Just one year older than me. I'll be 41 this year. And I do feel a little older. But definitely still time to do so many great things. Hope your day was as relaxing as it sounds. Any day with a nap is a great day anyway!

  6. I just turned 41....and it was much nicer, for some reason, than turning 40. Maybe just surrender and acceptance? Who knows. We have our whole lives ahead of us...I'm planning on about 62 or more years like my grandma!

  8. Welcome to 42! I'll blaze the trail to 43 for you and make sure the water is warm. I'm feeling the 40's but only due to my own negligence. Time to lace on the running shoes for a good walk. I'll just have to wait for the snow to melt first. Another few inches are coming down today.
