I miss this

This is my last kitchen sink and boy do I miss it. We recently moved to a new town, a new state and as much as I love it here, I REALLY loved my old house. It was so me! This house isn't very me but I must say we're trying our hardest to make it me. So, we gave up the great house to live in really great town. Our family is thriving and that is what's important.
Steve and I grew up on the ocean and have always wanted the same for our kids. Nothing brings us greater joy than to watch Stephen race on the water at a regatta, or Will taking sailing lessons for the first time, or Hannah catching a fish off a friends boat. I know watching baby Griffy this summer as he tries to eat the sand and kicks his tiny toes in the cold water will be just as joyful.
So, as I look out from my kitchen window this morning, I will think about how lucky I am to live where I live.
"We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch,- we are going back from whence we came." JFK

  1. PAM!! I LOVE your blog! Wonderful writing....and stories of "blooming where you're planted". Keep it up! My last kitchen window looked out to the side of the house to the neighbor's driveway. Sad. I can't wait until you start counting the hours spent in front of the sink! Love you, and the pics are great too! xoxox

  3. Your kitchen was beautiful Pam but I think your new one is too. We gave up a lot to live in New Bern a long time ago and I have never regretted it. We felt land locked in Charlotte and in Lumberton and Anderson (our other homes). We are not big into water sports but love living near the ocean and our family.
I am loving the kids pics on the side...I could eat Griffy!!!

  4. Pam, Just love your blog. I miss your kitchen too and most importantly you. We had so many great times in that kitchen and I do remember washing some dishes in that sink too:) This is such a great idea. I can not wait to read your next one. Love, Lara

  5. Pam, Just take baby step -- ask Griffy how!:) -- and soon I'm sure you'll be turning your new house into a New-And-Improved-Version of your house! You and Steve should be commended for putting your kids first! I remember the pics from last summer - so much fun! And MUCH more to come. Keep up this very good work!
    Love, MA

  6. Pam,
I have many sink windows I miss too, but at the end of the day, it is my whole home, community, and family that matters. Glad you have you priorities straight too! It is still fun to reminisce, and remember, you have control here! Make your new kitchen YOU! You are off to a great start from what i have seen. Remember the little details make a difference too. The plates, tea cups, containers, all the "stuff" we love to "fluff"! Throw your family into the mix, and how can you miss?

  7. Hi, just found my way over from Clover Lane. Love that old kitchen of yours, it's fab. Sounds like you you've got your priorities straight though, and that's all that matters. Most houses can be changed for the better.
