Thinkin at the sink

I wish this picture came out better! This kid loves being in the tub..the sink..just not in the ocean! He must be like his mom...a major wimp in cold water.

So we are still knee deep in baseball here. Stephen's team is going to Cooperstown NY to play which is exciting. Driving there...not so much. Anyway, I love watching his games. 15 year olds can really play. At a recent game Steve and I were sitting next to the Grandfather of one of our players. He said something that has stuck with me for a few days...something that is true not only in baseball but in life. He said it's not the kid who is making the great plays and hits that needs the love...it's the kid who is struggling out there. How true. We're all clapping and high fiving and giving the game ball to the star players...what about the kid who might be in a funk? That's the kid that needs the extra lovin' and confidence boostin' right now...don't you think?

  1. So true! You never know what it could do for that struggling player to receive that game ball. I know once my son got the game ball...not for catching the pop fly...but for diving to try to get it. He missed it, got up and got to the ball, threw it in and stopped the batter at second. It was all about his huge effort! I loved that!
    Good luck to Stephen's team!

  2. Well said. Sometimes WE ALL need just a little bit of extra love when we are having a bad day, doesn't that usually make a difference for a really bad day and a "I can get through this" day.

  3. Love your post today. Not everybody can be the star, but sometimes what you learn from the game even if you are not the best, is so important! Yay for Stephen's team. good luck on your trip.
Also, I am with Griffy, yay for warm tubs not so much for cold oceans:)

  7. Yes, indeed! I have seen this particularly with swimmers! Once they gain confidence they take off like no one knew they could!

What I love about your photo is Griffy's cute little hand holding the sink for balance & the other trying to grasp the water and the adorable concentration! So huggable & lovable. I am working on retaining those warm fuzzy feelings when dealing with my soon to be teen (2 more days) as I encounter eye rolls & being ignored. So enjoy Mr. Griffy & tell him that is he is loved in Ohio!

BTW, I finally posted something, 1st time in over a month!!
