Top of the Arc

the house is so quiet.
kids back to school today
after nearly 3 weeks off...
and steve off to CA.
sad to see it all end..
but ready for the new year.

we ended our vacation
with a birthday weekend
celebration for steve.
friday night he and i
dined out at a traditional
french restaurant.
saturday night the whole family
went to a local chinese food

we had homemade cards and a
few presents and cake.

one present,
from hannah..
was a wine glass filled
with dijon mustard.
steve LOVES  the dijon mustard here.

sunday we walked up the 284 steps
to the top of the arc de triomphe.
it was very overcast
but the views were still magnificent.

sacre' coeur.

looking down the champs elysees
towards the louvre.
notre dame is in the upper right corner.

i just love the rooftops in paris.

heading back down.

another terrific weekend in paris!

  1. Seeing those rooftops would never get old!
    Happy Belated Birthday Steve!

  2. Happy birthday to your husband. I LOVE the wine glass filled with Dijon. :)
    Gorgeous views for sure.

  3. Excellent choice for a fun weekend outing, Pam, and an ideal spot to try out that new camera Santa brought :-)

Many people do not suspect what a fabulous view can be enjoyed from the top of the Arc de Triomphe. It is a favorite of mine for several reasons: 1. Excellent view of the Eiffel Tower 2. Great vintage point to admire Parisian architecture post-Haussmanian big "remodel" :-) 3. The crazy car traffic around the Arc de Triomphe is the best *free* show in Paris after people watching. -- And let's not forget the fun climb to the top in the narrow staircase, always a winner with kids! :-) Glad you are enjoying Paris in spite of the typical January "greyness" and "dampness." 4. ... Oh and I forgot to mention I loved that photo of your husband unwrapping his glass of Moutarde de Dijon. The kids' faces are priceless! Really proud of themselves! :) Veronique

  5. Your pics are priceless!!! Love the Arc and the fabulous view!! Your family looks happy, Pam!! hugs, cathy

  6. Thank you for posting this- the rooflines, the views- makes me want to visit soon! x
