I do not have a green thumb. Well, it used to be green..I don't know what happened. I've never been able to keep houseplants. I don't own one. My mom gave me this mini-orchid for my kitchen window at Christmas time..you'd think that being right at my kitchen sink I'd remember to water it? Do you think it's dead? The leaves are still green? Uugh.
I've had this book for over 10 years and refer to it often. Calling the Pediatrician is usually a last resort for me. The last thing I want to be doing is dragging kids to the germy pediatricians office. This book uses conventional and natural methods for healing childhood ailments. I've never tried using homeopathic remedies..but have always been interested. Right now Griffy has a pretty bad case of eczema..the book not only has conventional treatments but dietary guidelines, nutritional supplements, herbal and homeopathy remedies. This is definitely a book for your home library.
This is my cellphone. I've had it for 2 and 1/2 years. That's a picture of Hannah blowing a bubble..I did not put it there. I wouldn't even know how to do that. I know how to make a call, answer my voicemail and text a little. I hate texting. Hate it. Well, yesterday was THE day. The day that Verizon got the iphone. So I ordered one. I'm excited for a new phone..but I just know I'll have no clue how to work it.
Stole this idea from Tracy Porter. She decorated her kids bathroom with Pez! Don't you love that? And the kids bathroom is next on the reno list.
And do you read Elements of Style..love Erin. Love that she lives in the so cool South End of Boston. She's an editor for the new online magazine High Gloss ..similar to Lonny which I still love.
Have a great weekend!!
P.S.....oh and thank you all for sharing your Views from Your Kitchen Sinks!!! Loved them!
Pam, you will LOVE your iphone!!
ReplyDeleteyou will love the iphone, good for you! now you will be able to check your e-mail:) also love the Pez, what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI have a smart phone (droid) but I can't do much of anything with it. Brad has pictures for all of his contacts, games, locks, bells, whistles. I think it's all lost on me.
ReplyDeleteI have a similar book that I bought when Heidi was a baby. Every mom needs one. Saves so many unnecessary trips to the dr or or.
And I'm off to check a few new sites, thanks to you. I echo your comment on my blog. Wish we could get Evie and Griffy together for the morning, let them tear things up for a while and chat . . .
You are going to love the iPhone..... I love mine and don't know how to use it to it's full potential! Going to check out those recommended sites... thanks!
ReplyDeleteSooo jealous of the iphone! I have an ipod touch which I adore but we can't afford the iphone (more like we can't afford the montly fees). I know you will love it. You must learn to use it and get some awesome apps! I take my ipod everywhere with me.
ReplyDeletestill working on my kitchen sink view...the lighting is tricky!! and i've had an orchid on my kitchen table for months...it has one little bud....and i am just waiting!!!
ReplyDeletehey pam - so much to say I'm not even sure where to start on this post ... houseplants? i'm a serial killer, too, if it makes you feel any better. iphone? you'll LOVE it, don't be afraid! Erin at EOS? she's a friend of mine! not thru anything stylish or glamorous, though ... we went to the same high school (not at the same time - obviously!) and met when we worked together on an alum committee ... small world, huh?!
ReplyDeletePS - took pics of my kitchen sink view, but haven't moved them off the camera yet - stay tuned!
That book looks like a good one. Aubrey had pretty bad eczema too and this is what the derm. recommended.
ReplyDeleteWash with mild soap, we use Aquaphor.
Scent free laundry soap.
Cotton footed jammies only, no fleece and we keep a heater in her room set at 68. I know it seems kind of cold, but she does fine. I have a few little blankets in there she cuddles with.
The best thing ever was a lotion/cream she recommended that works so well and really cleared things up in about 2 days. It's CeraVe. You can find it at Walgreens. We have the cream but they make a lotion too. We lathered her up with it twice a day at first and now just once a day. Check it out and see if it helps.
Enjoy the weekend
love the Pez!!:)
views from my kitchen sink are up! Thanks for the idea Pam!
ReplyDeletePam,
ReplyDeleteMy youngest son had some mild eczema at Griffy's age and I used a product called Vanicream. I got mine at Walgreens. Amazing stuff!
And I have heard coconut oil helps too, but I never tried it on him.
Luckily, he doesn't get it any more.
Ditto many others.....you are gonna love the iPhone!
What fun pictures!

Talk to Catie about the orchid...she does amazing things with them...it will come back and rebloom if you follow her advice.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a green thumb either. My kids bought one of those water globes that waters the plant for you and I still had no luck !
ReplyDeleteI'm no green thumb either but I've managed to keep three of these orchids alive for a couple of years. They bloom and withing a couple of weeks the blooms fall off. You can cut the 'branch' off as it probably won't bloom from that one again. Soon you'll see another branch start to grow, once it gets long enough you can clip it to the stick again and before you know it you'll have buds. They don't need a lot of water and I don't think they like to 'sit' in water so a little goes a long way.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I am the same way w/houseplants. I lived in Hawaii for years and my teacher friends would always give me orchids for gifts. I'd always cringe b/c I knew they lovingly harvested them and I'd wind up leaving it in the back of my car for a week then find it dead. :(
ReplyDeleteSame w/my Smartphone. Just got one for Xmas. Have no idea what I'm doing with it. Good luck with the iPhone. I still covet one.
