Pickles and Mashed Potatoes

No..I'm not pregnant. I did make pickles today though. Can I just say how much I love those pretty little jars of pickles on my shelf? I haven't even tried them yet...they have to sit for a week. All day long Steve and the kids joked about how I could drive 2 minutes to the grocery store and there'd be shelves of them that I could just buy. Yeah but mine have no High Fructose Corn Syrup and they look cute!

Here is the mashed potatoes. That's Griffy's nickname that my Brother in law gave him. He said he looks like a big bowl of mashed potatah's...I like it.

And remember my dilemma over going to Utah? Well, good things come to those who wait. Now Utah is coming to me. Well, not really...the Power of Moms retreat is coming to Portsmouth, NH in October..which is just over an hour away from me. This time I'm going. I'm really excited to:
1. Get away by myself.
2. Meet some great people.
3. Learn more about being the best mom I can be
4. Get away by myself. (did I say that already?)

  1. Homemade spicy pickles are the best! And I am thrilled to hear you will get some alone time at your retreat. You need to refill your cup! Good for you Pam. Can't wait to hear more about it!

  2. I made homemade pickles one summer from our own cukes. When we moved a few weeks later, all the bottles were dropped and shattered. Not only did I lose all my hard work, my kitchen smelled like dill vinegar for weeks.
Needless to say, haven't done it again. Hope they're as tasty as they look!
Should I book the flight? I'm so ready!

Your mashed potatoes boy is too cute. Now I think this all means weaning him is in the works, right? Remember, he is not in pain when he cries. love you!

  10. Hi Pam! I can't wait to get here more when the kids go back to school - I simply LOVE it here and think you are such a talented writer and photographer! I'm absolutely with you on the pickles - as another Mom who scours food labels for corn syrup and other "lurkers!" Good for you for making your own! Oh, that Mashed Potatoes boy is pure delight - those sweet little rolls will serve him so well as he grows. And how fun that it all worked out with the Power of Moms coming to NH! You deserve just such a treat - and since you'll be coming up north, maybe you'd like to stop by my house for tea (or we could meet somewhere near 95 to make it easier for you...)!! I'll be thinking of you as our kiddos all start back to school, and then maybe we can finally get our babies together again! xoxo
