Footy Pajamas and Mac and Cheese

This used to be Hannah's little kitchen. Griffy now loves to cook while I cook. Do you keep your kids toys in the kitchen?  I keep a basket of toys in the family room and I usually end up dragging them in the kitchen so he can play while I cook.

Notice Griffy's feet? Steve cuts the feet off the footy pajamas. Drives me nuts.

Will's home! Griff runs to the door when he hears the bus. Notice he's still in his pajamas at 2:15. I swear to you I'm not. Really.

I really forgot how messy 18 month old babies are. It's times like these when I'd like a dog. To clean up all the food that Griffin has thrown on the floor. Do you know what is the grossest thing to clean off the floor? Mac and cheese. It just doesn't want to be picked up. It sticks and rolls around the floor. Gross. What's even better is when I'm down on my hands and knees cleaning up all the gross mac and cheese and Griffin, still in his high chair, starts throwing it at me. Thats awesome.

The Cleanse Update.

Not only do I love snooping around people's homes..I like to see what's in their fridge. Weird. I will probably never be invited to your house. So...the cleanse. I'm into week two now and I honestly feel really good. We had that one night on Saturday where we went off it a bit but went right back on it Sunday morning. Last week was hard. My body was not used to not eating/drinking. I was hungry all the time, cranky and had a constant headache. I don't feel any of that this week. Here is pretty much what I ate last week...Replaced cup of coffee with hot lemon water. I was used to drinking that anyway with my coffee. I missed my cup of coffee the first few days then I was over it. Breakfast..cup of steel cut oats with fruit. Mid morning snack..handful of almonds or cashews. Lunch...soup. I made a few from Martha's cleanse recipes and  they were surprisingly good and filling. Afternoon snack..apple with almond butter. Dinner..usually salmon with lentils or quinoa or just a salad with grilled chicken. That's it. And I drank a ton of lemon water all day long.

This week we can slowly add some foods back in...soy, yogurt, BREAD, some dairy. Today I had my oatmeal for breakfast, some non-fat yogurt with my homemade granola and some kiwi for snack.... lunch was salad...afternoon snack was a banana and dinner was kale soup minus the potatoes and kielbasa. And I'm not hungry.

So after Steve and I splurged Saturday night I had a cup of coffee Sunday morning. (Steve is not off coffee..he has a killer of a commute and would most likely have major road rage)...I had maybe half the cup and it made me kind of sick. I haven't had any or craved it since. I do drink caffeine free tea in the afternoon.

Someone asked how I felt after the pizza/wine Saturday night. GOOD! I only had two small slices of pizza plus salad. By Saturday I was just craving a normal meal and that did it for me.

This week I feel so much better. I'm excercising..something I couldn't do last week either. I'm doing this because I do want to drop those last 10 baby pounds...(hello! he's almost 2!)...and I just wanted to feel better. I feel like all we did from Thanksgiving until New Years was eat, drink, eat, drink, eat, drink. Uugh.

Thanks for your interest/support. Will keep you posted!

Weekending

Stephen said that he and I are never in the blog pictures. So here we are. I prefer to be behind the camera.

Our weekend was full as always. But I'm exhausted tonight so I'm not going to do my traditional "weekending" post. I know you're all so bummed out.

Steve said to me yesterday.."Not sure if this cleanse thing is workin for you." He told me nicely that I haven't been too pleasant to be around. Really? Well, I pretty much gave up eating and drinking for 6 days...and if I look at another piece of celery I might lose it. So last night we went off the cleanse...just for one night. Steve made his homemade pizza and I had 2 slices with a salad and we split a bottle of wine. Heaven.

Back on it today. We decided that Saturday nights will be our night to splurge a bit.
How many more days until Saturday?

(I did lose 4 pounds!)

4 Is Our Number

I'll never have one of those again. As I write these words and say it out loud it still can't be true. But, Steve and I have talked and talked and talked and I cry and we talk some more...but we realize that we are done having children. Is it possible to grieve over the end of your  fertility? Cuz I am. Big time. I'll never shout out my two favorite words of all time..." I'M PREGNANT!" I was never one of those mothers who waited the required 3 months to share the happy news. Oh no. That  test was still hot and I was screaming it out the window. I loved telling people I was pregnant. And speaking of pregnancy tests...I could probably re-do my kitchen with what I spent on those things..but aren't they the best? Seeing those two little lines? I'm crying right now just thinking how I'll never see them again.

I'll never carry another child. Oh how I loved my belly! Feeling those little feet kick inside me. Never again.

I'll never give birth again. And I had easy delivery's. No drugs with any of them they all just came spitting right out.

I'll never hold a newborn again. And swaddle them up so tight. And be so protective of that little bundle..."sorry, you can't hold him right now"

I have to move on. The though of another baby consumes my thoughts and I have to let it go.

I know I'm being all dramatic and all..but that's me. Drama is my middle name.

No more. And I'm so sad. Believe me, I am thankful every day for my 4 beautiful, healthy children..but 4 is our number.

Before and After, House Swap and A Cleanse

Before and

After!

Hannah got braces this morning! She's taking the day off from school to get adjusted with them. I love the pink/green colors she chose.

Has anyone ever house swapped? Steve and I have been doing some research into it and are thinking pretty seriously about it. We'd love to go to France. Wouldn't that be cool? Although, the kids are a bit creeped out about some total stranger sleeping in their beds. Would you be? I'm still not sure how I feel about the whole thing. Would love to know if anyone has any experience house swapping!

Also, I started a 28 day cleanse today. No caffeine, alcohol, processed foods, wheat, dairy. What I'll miss most is that first sip of coffee to start my day and that first sip of wine to end it. I'll let you know how it goes.

New Years Eve and Day and a New Tradition

Happy New Year! We had such a fun night and day today...We had our traditional junk food fest which included Ring Dings, pop tarts, candy, cereal, chips, brownie sundaes and Chinese food. Yummy last night..not so much today. Uugh.

We watched a movie..Fly Away Home. It was so sweet and perfect for the whole family.

Almost midnight!
We all threw our notes into the fire...

We all made it to midnight..except Griffy.

Last night Steve came up with a new tradition to add to the old one. I love it. After throwing away the old and bad stuff into the fire last night...today we all went to the beach and found wishing rocks. We wrote on them what we'd like for the New Year and we threw them in the ocean.

Then Stephen challenged Steve to a race. Stephen won...again. Poor Steve. We're not getting old babe.

Thank you for reading my little blog about my little life that I love. Thank you for your comments. I'm still amazed that people other than my Dad read my blog. I think 2011 is going to be a good one.
