Iceland Part 2

Leaving the Strokkur geyser we drove
to Gulfoss falls..
the third and final stop on the
Golden Circle tour.

Breathtaking views
and scenery..
and I can still hear the sound
of the water crashing.

The Golden Circle tour
is a must if you're visiting
Iceland!

We decided to push it and
drive to the Blue Lagoon.
The sun came out
(doesn't happen often)
and at 5 in the afternoon
people were leaving.
No waiting in lines
and we had the place almost
to ourselves!

What an incredible
experience!

Yes..
Steve has a mud mask on.
We all put them on!
My skin never felt or looked
better after getting out
of the Blue Lagoon!

I didn't take many pictures here..
we were too busy bathing!

The Blue Lagoon was
gorgeous!
What a way to end the day!

The next day we
took a puffin tour.

The boat pulled up
close so we could see the
puffins!

Iceland is beautiful.

What a great way to
start the summer!

Next stop..
Boston and
Martha's Vineyard!

Iceland Part 1

A few days before we flew
back to the states for the summer,
we took advantage of
Icelandair's stopover promotion.
It is a great way to see this beautiful
country if you're flying to or from Europe!

We arrived early in the morning and
had 3 full days of sightseeing.
We stayed in a cute B&B right in
the city.

We rented a car one day
and spent the entire day
driving the Golden Circle.
It was a long day in the car
but oh so worth it.

We stopped first
(not on the tour) at this spot..
amazing rock formations everywhere.
The kids got out and made some of their own.

First stop on the tour
is Thingvellir National Park.

I'm just realizing I might need
to post Iceland in two parts!
I took so many pictures..

It is such an easy country
to photograph..
surrounded by beauty.

From there we drove to
view the Geysir Strokkur
that sprouts water 100 ft in the
air about every 5-10 minutes.

And this is the last shot
I got of the Geysir right
before it errupted..
there was a reason that
everyone was standing on that side.
I got SOAKED!!

I'll post the last two stops
on our tour tomorrow!

We're Home..Minus One

Where do I begin?
With Iceland?
Martha's Vineyard?
Rome?
Positano and Capri?

Or with my oldest leaving for the
University of Miami?

The summer that we had was
incredible.
The travel..
the time spent with
family and friends..
the food
the laughs
the adventures!
I could go on and on.

I can't tell you how many
times I said to my children
this summer..
"do you KNOW how lucky you are??"

We are beyond blessed to have had
the experiences we did this summer.
I am so very thankful for my
hardworking husband who makes it happen.

Once I organize my photos
and continue to unpack
and get ready for back to school
here in Paris..
I will document our adventures
of this summer.

Until then..
this picture was taken Sunday evening
on our way to dinner.
Stephen took a copy of it
for his dorm room.
It was our last night in Capri and
less than 48 hours later..
Steve and Stephen were on
their way to Miami..
and I was a mess.

I miss you Stephen.
But I know this is your
time to fly!
And I know that even though "home" has been in
many, many different places..
we are your home no matter
where that place is.
You are loved and missed!
